Why are there so many blower belts breaking in a Two Wheel Drive Truck class?
Nine times out ten, it is not an old belt. Usually something else is going on in the truck. It could be the pulley alignment, the timing, it could be spark plugs, heck even spark plug lines. Let's just state the simple fact that once the belt goes, the run is done! When you are making 3,000 horsepower, the stress will usually fall on the weakest link. This just happens to be a $300 part and a simple fix assuming no other breakage. More damage occurs due to the vehicle comes thrusting downward faster to the earth than anticipated. I have seen pulleys pop off, windows broken, and damage to bodies. You cannot predict it, but it still makes for one of the coolest classes to watch any day of the week.
